Austria played their first international match against Hungary in March 1992, losing 23-9. Austria is a third tier rugby playing nation and they play their home games in the Stadion Hohe Warte, Wien, Austria.

Austria play their home games in strip of black and white shirts, with black shorts and white socks with black hoops. The shirt has not been worn to any particular success as yet although they have won some match's. They are yet to reach even the final stages of qualification for the Rugby World Cup. With the competition against Football in Austria we cannot see they will do anything other than stuggle to compete on the international stage.
