The shirt has been worn by some notable players such as: Zinzan Brooke, Sean Fitzpatrick, Michael Jones, Kees Meeuws, Brian Lima, Caleb Ralph, Xavier Rush, Mark Robinson, Tony Woodcock, Doug Howlett, Joe Rokocoko, Steve Devine and perhaps 2 of the best known names in rugby Carlos Spencer and Jonah Lomu.
The Blues have a proud record of competing at the top level winning the Super 12's (replaced by 14's in 2005/6) in the first year 1996 and then in 1997 and 2003. They usually achieve at least a semi-finals finish.
